Claudie & I were out on the Reserve on Thanksgiving October 12th. We fed the dogs we normally take care of and picked up a couple of stray and unwanted dogs while we were out there. One little male no more than eight weeks old was given to us by the owner who did not want him any more. Claudie had taken the others a few weeks ago but left two behind because the owner said they were male and he wanted to keep them. Now his comment to us was that they were making to much of a mess and he didn't want them any more. There were supposed to be two puppies but we could only find one. Maybe next weekend we'll find the other before it gets to cold out and the little guy freezes. The other little one we removed was a stray that has been running around all summer. This one was a little female almost a year old and there was no way I was going to leave her out on the Reserve to fend for herself with winter just around the corner. She had been hanging around with a pack of about six other dogs and always looking pretty beat up. On our last two visits we found her running by herself and almost starved. I just didn't have the heart to leave her where she was. Both animals were dropped off at the Edmonton Humane Society as we have no foster homes open to us at this time. S.C.A.R.S. is full to capacity and attempting to make arrangements for another bunch of dogs coming in from up north. Both dogs have been posted to the Humane Societies website so if you're looking for a dog be sure to have a look. I've always found that any animal off of the Reserve has a great personality. All they require is a little T.L.C. and you'll have a friend for life.
Once again if you live in or around the Edmonton area and can foster a dog until a good home can be found, give us a call or send us an email.
